I have a strange problem with smart upgrade. I configured a su kit for updating 8.5.3 to 8.5.3FP1. Everything works fine for existing users.
The issue occurs for new users: if on the client machine no user has never logged id the first user receives the prompt to upgrade. If the user clicks on "upgrade now" no smart upgrade kit is launched, nothing happens. The loading window of notes client runs indefinitely with message "connecting to domino server ....".
If the user clicks on "upgrade later" then notes client is launched with prompt to create the standard home page and so on. From this point the user can smart upgrade without any problem (both from the menu and from the prompt at next logon) ...

I cannot figure out what is the problem, any help is highly appreciated.
